1. Photo-Thermal Degradation (Physical Fragmentation · Pseudo-Degradation)
Photo-thermal degradation is an early traditional process. By adding photosensitive additives, plastics crack and fragment under strong sunlight and high temperature. It only changes physical appearance without altering plastic molecular structure. It only works in open-air sunny conditions and fails completely in buried, landfilled or underwater environments. Fragmented microplastics cause long-term environmental pollution.
2. Oxidative Degradation (Additive Brittleness · Typical Pseudo-Environmental)
Oxidative degradable products are still based on traditional petroleum-based PE/PP plastics with only oxidative additives added, which is the mainstream process for low-cost fake degradable products. The materials only become brittle and split into microplastic particles, cannot be decomposed by microorganisms, and cannot convert into water or CO2. It brings the same pollution as ordinary plastics and has been restricted in many countries.
3.Biodegradation is the only standard-compliant and truly eco-friendly technology, adopting PLA, PBAT, plant starch and other biomass materials. Microorganisms decompose polymer chains thoroughly under standard composting conditions.
